Graphite and paint on canvas or Embroidery on linen

This series – presented for the first time during the exhibition “Allineamenti” at IUNO (Rome) – is created by the artist starting from listening to the noises coming from outside his studio. Through a quick translation of sound into graphic sign, Roberto Casti marks time and spatial movements on canvas or fabric with a graphite. In the case of curtains, there is a second and slow processing in which the signs are embroidered. The result is an apparent white monochrome that reveals the complexity of its compositional elements only up close, recalling a moment of sudden revelation – like when one glimpses dust dancing in the light next to a window.
